travis' brain dump

Aside from the fact I came in this morning to our tape libraries are down and the usual cleanup from the weekend it’s pretty calm… so all in all not too bad of a day actually… especially the fact I’m out of here in about 30-45 minutes. 🙂

This weekend was pretty awesome I must say, aside from the fact I’ve been sick since I got back from Mexico… no, I didn’t bring back any illegal immigrants in my intestines again, it’s just a freakin sinus annoyance. It’s a good thing I kick these pretty well. We got back to find almost a foot of snow in the neighborhood… that was kinda cool. Christmas day dumped a nice amount with some followups on Thursday. It’s so nice to see all the snow falling not only here but in the mountains as well…

Went up with Amanda, Becca and Mike on Saturday to do a little boarding which was fun. It started out pretty rough for poor Amanda but in the afternoon session she started to get some balance and learn the ins and outs of her balance. I’m so proud of her. Becca did pretty good too… she was the first to get up on balance but still needs a couple more days up there to get some steering down. I also got in a good run at least with Mike so that was nice. 🙂 I look forward to snaggin another day up there soon though to go beat myself up… maybe this weekend if I’m feeling better.

The rest of the weekend was spent doing some cleaning… Christmas Tree removal, etc… Also doing the new year cleaning frenzy which is always fun. I’m trying to figure out how much of the downstairs stuff I can clean out to prepare for the remodel of that room… Time to do some project budgeting again! YAY!

At some point I need to get out in the garage and pull the turbo off the rolla… stupid thing decided to blow up on me… *sigh* oh well… at least it wasn’t the motor this time, lol. I actually think it might be cold related somehow… it appears only a seal has busted and oil leaked into the system…. all that means is I get to feed my OCD side and do some massive cleaning on the old girl…

Oh… speaking of the garage…. some nice remodel/additions going on in there as well actually… Andy got me a new workbench/desk for Christmas… I’ve so got to take some pictures but it’s really cool. Thanks a ton man, that was an awesome addition to the garage! Now I just have to clean the files and misc crud out of the old desk so we can break it down and move it out of there… I think sometime this winter (maybe while working on the family room) I need to pick up some more sheetrock and put a ceiling in the garage. It’s time to try to insulate that thing and make it a little more livable out there during the winter months… it’s ridiculous right now. Part of it will be getting that furnace working out there as well, that will make a huge difference. So many things to do…

Wow… has this ever been (and still going to be) a busy week!

I started off this week preparing for a quick trip out to Rock Springs Wyoming.. yay the fun. I had to do some work out there for the company I’ve been working for so I was out of town Tuesday night and Wednesday. oh! On that note, the coolest phone call came in the night I was leaving… the official offer call. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 So somewhere in the next couple of weeks I shall leave this horrible contracting nonsense and join QMR permanently. 🙂 YAY!

The best part about this? getting rid of SRC as an insurance company… I’m telling you, SRC is the elbow skin of Aetna…. They have got to be the ABSOLUTE WORST insurance company aI have every come in contact with… to this day they still haven’t reimbursed me for the prescriptions I’ve had to fill out of pocket since I got them. I’m still fighting with them but the minute my new benefits kick in you can bet I’m going to get really nasty with them. I can’t wait for the new benefits… wooo… so much better. This company really is a great company and they take care of their employees too. It will be a very nice change from the way things have been for sure. So, now I wait for all the results from my background check and drug screening to make it back to HR so they can finish up the paperwork to get me hired in. 🙂

The rest of this week is going to be pretty busy too… we’re moving about 60 people from areas on 3 floors down to floor 4 this weekend and the comes the followup as we move shuffle people around after that… At least we’re still only using 3 1/2 floors of the building. It should be interesting.

Speaking of the moves… it’s time to get ready for them. 🙂

a busy one for sure…

i’m glad we get every other friday off here… i don’t know how i could have fit everything into a 2 day weekend. out of it all i’d have to say friday/saturday were the busiest. friday i got up pretty early to get some snow tires on amanda’s car… did that just in the nick of time as we picked up quite a snowdump from friday afternoon through sunday morning. amanda also got her first experience driving in the snow, lol… she did really good actually.

most of friday was committed to an install at a client’s site where they were doing a full server upgrade/replacement. pretty awesome to see them up and running with current hardware and software though… it’ll make the support job easier for sure. a big thanks to Myke for hooking me up with a good reseller for the hardware and software, it saved quite a bit. after the install, speaking of Myke, we went over and met up with him and his wife to go head out for some dinner. we had a great time and i know amanda enjoyed the adult company outside of the house and away from kids, poor woman has been stuck making conversation with a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old who doesn’t say a word during the days… i think Andy and I have probably become stale being the only other two adults she sees on a regular basis… lol we had a blast though… amanda made a comment to me about how scary it is how alike Myke and I are… (ridiculing bad drivers and the general same thought process) she said things along the line like it was like watching us both have a conversation with ourselves…. LOL

saturday was way busy… I was finishing up some things on our home network and then we headed out into the snow to run errands and go pick up our Christmas Tree. (you absolutely rock Andy!) after doing that it was back on the errands again with the usual Costco/Wal-Mart run to pick up odds and ends. then there was the 4-5 hours of decorating for Christmas… we decorated the tree, setup some lights, the usual gig… it was fun and Amanda had a blast with that as well. I think she’s happy it finally feels like Christmas around the house as we’ve been too busy to really do anything with decorating the last couple of weeks… have fun keeping those kids away from the tree though babe! hehe 🙂

today you can tell is a monday though… glad we’re having the christmas lunch for the company today… i’m starving. other than that, its oddly quiet here today… almost eerie. anyway… enough blogging… time to go do something production for 30 minutes till lunch. 🙂

you know i’m starting to find more often than not that i’m seeing time fly by and i’m not getting many postings in. does this mean i’m really just to busy or am i being lazy? i’ll pick the latter because when you intend on keeping up with something and you don’t, it can only be attributed to procrastination or a completely forgetful mind… maybe both.

so the last couple of weeks have been good. i don’t remember much since i’ve been working 10 hour days all this week, but hey… it’s all good right?

we finally got a decent snow last night… the weather has been more like spring/fall than winter the last few weeks. no snow, temps in the high 60’s and low 70’s… it’s been depressing actually. breckenridge had bare ground up until last night despite a few snowfalls over the last couple months. needless to say the resorts definitely have delays on opening up runs… hopefully mike and i will be heading up to go hit some runs tomorrow morning if everything pans out right. breck got 6-7″ of snow so that might be worth going up and at least getting a couple runs in.

i can’t believe how tired i am today… it’s like the last three days are finally catching up to me. i’m glad i only have to work one 10 hr next week, the rest are all 9.5 although i’m contemplating working 10’s again to make up some time. 🙂 next month is going to be insane… i’ve got to work at least 2 weekends, but it’s worth it. at least i get a few days off around christmas. 🙂

speaking of time off… these next four days are going to be so nice… definitely something to be thankful for among other things of course like family and friends… i am most definitely grateful for them as i would be nothing without them.

anyway… i better get back to work.. only an hour and a half to go! 🙂 hope everyone has a happy thanksgiving!
