travis' brain dump

so, ya know those days that you just feel like you should have stayed in bed? yep, having one of those… not only is work just kinda dragging along today, but I got a ticket this morning… wtf!?

so, it starts off – i woke up this morning a little late, i truly thought about calling in, yeah right… pulled my butt outta bed and proceeded to take a shower to wake up. i thought to myself, “today is going to suck”. boy i had no clue. so i’m on my way to drop off my daughter and i decide to take a slightly different route this morning (shoulda been my first clue). i’m cruisin down the street in what i thought to be a 40mph (yes, my mind is on other crap, so i wasn’t really paying attention) zone at about 45 and my radar goes off… thinking i was okay, i just kept rollin, until one of broomfield’s finest pulls out behind me with his lights going… so at this point i’m thinking to myself… great… 10 yrs w/o a speeding ticket and i get popped – oh well i’m due… so he comes up and he’s all ‘ i got you doin 48 in a 35 ‘ — realizing it was a 35mph zone not a 40 mph zone i think to myself… “4 pts, thats just great” — so he asks for my license, reg, insurance – the usual stuff… i go rummaging through my visor and get him the docs… unfortunately it seems that my insurance card was out of date… oh yay… so, on top of the 4pts and 13 over, i’ve got no proof of insurance to add to it… at least the latter is easy enough to dismiss… hopefully the d.a. will be in a giving mood give me a plea bargain so i can get it down to 2 pts and under 10 over (or perhaps better). we’ll see… knowing my luck i’ll be the poor bastard they make an example out of — no slack. wouldn’t that be some bull… crackhead 17-18yr olds who blast 35’s @ 90 get plea bargains that let them keep their licenses and pay some slap on the wrist fine and a 27 yr old single father dropping off his kid gets owned for going 13 over… would be my luck ya know? *shrug* oh well… as long as they give me some kinda break i’ll be happy… i mean after all i *WAS* speeding which I am not trying to say i wasn’t and try to get out of everything, just get a nice reduction that is easy to deal with… lol  we’ll see how it goes… i don’t have court until the 25th of may so i’ve got a while – im not too worried about it, just more annoyed at myself than anything…

on other notes, today had some other issues with it not worth mentioning… all just seeming to pile on me… at least im heading out of work here in about an hour… that makes it nicer. got a little job to do on the way home and then its pickup the kiddo and go do some grocery shopping… gotta restock after the cleanout that occured last week around my pad… i love my friends to death… you hear that you ungrateful pains in my ass? i love ya all!(hehe just messin with ya, you’re not ungrateful pains – you guys are some of the best friends anyone could ask for)

only one more day till the weekend… just gotta make it through today and tomorrow and i’m set. i think i’ll work on destroying (so that i can remodel) the guestroom… should be fun. as soon as i’m done it means people don’t have to sleep on the floor when they crash at my house… i should have crash capacity for up to 6 which will be great for those weekends everyone wants to hang out all night before going snowboarding… *cough* last weekend *cough*

anyway, enough… gotta get a couple things wrapped up here and get outta here.

heh a year later…

i was going to post yesterday, but i passed out (you’ll learn why later) and never got to it…  in other news, its a year later from the first day i posted a blog on this thing … i cannot believe i’ve had a myspace account this long — seemed like yesterday i swear.

ok — so i did my first solo trip up to breck yesterday… (usually im with at least one person going up, but no one could make it so i had to go it alone) all in all it was a pretty good day – fresh powder mmmmm…. I got the urge on thursday while I was at work and checking out the snow stats at breck from this lil storm we had pass through and it excited me. (perhaps in that way, you may never know) — i was burnt, i had worked all the previous weekend and pulled an all nighter on this database migration that kept going sour (i wont even bore with the details) but all the same it carried over.

So I got up Friday, took the kiddo over to her grandparents for the day and headed for the hills… the drive up was freakin nuts! Snow all over the roads, i think CDOT was taking the day off too. Once I got up there however, it was well worth it. I got there at about 8:30 or so and there was hardly anyone there… Can we say no lines to the lifts!? I didn’t even have to unstrap a couple times to get onto the lift… lol Got a lot in, a bunch of boarding, a little hiking and quite possibly the best view i have ever seen – all before 2pm… very nice. got back here just in time to take a shower and get a 30 minute nap before andy and mark came over. I was so wiped by the time the day was over i passed out, didnt even fight it.

I was supposed to go up today too but I didnt get a chance — no babysitter… *shrug* oh well – next year I wont have this problem… gonna strap arwen to a board next year for sure! I hope she likes it — however judging by her daredevil attitude now, i dont think i have to worry…

ok… well i have stuff to do and i’m sure i’ve grammatically butchered this blog enough as I don’t care to actually re-read this thing.

so this weekend has been pretty badass so far… i’m cleaning my house today, not feeling too great but thats quite allright… i’ve got some great tunes pumpin reminding me of yesterday’s boarding… omg… talk about a crazy day… hit up breck again yesterday (as we do every weekend) with mike, chris and ryan…

yesterday started off slow, we were all up late friday night so we were pretty slow to start. we finally hit the hill around 10/11am and hit it hard… squeezed in a good 3-4 runs before hitting the coppertop for some grub and such… mike got totally trashed, which brought forth an interesting last two runs for the day to say the least… i was doin pretty good to keep up with speedy (chris) on the hill that next run, i think the alcohol slowed everyone down… made for an easy catch which was cool… chris somehow conned me into going down a black yesterday — not sure if i was ready to hit those quite yet, but i did pretty good – only fell 3 times… haha even rode a hill at about 15mph on my ass, haha good times…

it was a great day in all, only thing that sucked was the traffic headed back… we were having so much fun we rode out the day till after 4 which is a no-no… we were stuck in traffic and I didnt get home until around 8 last night, talk about crappy. oh well… cheap chinese made up for it… this place, lotus kitchen.. omg… 4 of us ate last night for under $5 a person and it stuffed us… good stuff…

so today, cleaning, feeling pretty beat up from the hill and just kicking it with my daughter… Arwen is having a blast today, its almost 70 which is a nice change from the 20 high we had last week, lol.

anyway, time to get back at it…

ok.. so here i am at work on a friday…

i contemplated calling in today so i could go boarding… sorry mike, i caved to the pressures of needing to clear some projects up at work… eh, maybe next week… 😉

unfortunately it seems that most of the time when I call in its either a) i’m sick or b) arwen is sick. i did however get a lot of time off back in nov/dec – i was out of town almost a total of a month which was kinda nice. my trip back to georgia… eh, had its good points and bad points… im certainly glad to be home in colorado tho. i missed muh homies and muh mountains.

so, while im slackin off at work i was surfing the web and thinking… it feels like 2pm and its only 10:30am… one of the crap things about drinking coffee, its like smokin dope — you think time is flying but its crawling… wtf!? you’d think it had the opposite effect on one’s psyche. *shrug* who cares…

so i think i’ll clean my house this weekend… i thought about going boarding but I forgot to set up someone to watch Arwen this weekend so I pooched that one… it’s all good, i have a ton of stuff to do… wire the family room with ethernet, move my equipment out of the spare room and quite possibly start tearing out the walls in there so i can remodel it… yay destruction! I still need to redo the piping going into my hot water heater, but its working now so i’m going to be lazy for another weekend… hehe the joys of owning your own home. 🙂

hmmm allright, i guess i’ll get back to work… maybe one day i might actually post these more than just once in a while… lol
