travis' brain dump

ok, i’ve successfully ported my myspace blogs to my personal site… i’ll post this in both locations.

I decided a few days ago that I was going to do this since I don’t feel comfortable with all my personal stuff being administered by someone else. Call me paranoid but I always feel that my data should be in my control and unfortunately myspace is everyonespace, lol. Hosting it on my system is way more secure and much much more stable. I’m going to actually post pretty regular on my new blog site as I’ve found its a pretty good stress relief and it helps to have some input from you guys on certain subjects.

If any of you guys feel the same and want to setup your own blogsite, I’ll host them on my webserver for nothing. They don’t eat up any bandwidth so I don’t mind. I’ve got enough business coming in on the webhosting side to definitely cover some space for my friends. Just come by my house and I’ll get you setup. If you happen to be non-local like so many of you are, we can set it up while chatting over AIM or something.

It’s just the blogs, so I’m going to continue to monitor and maintain my MySpace account so I can stay in touch with you all.

Heh, for some reason I’m feeling pretty good at the moment… no, no drugs or anything…

I was about to go to bed, took a shower and it hit me, wide awake… At least I may make it to bed by midnight, lol…

Well, I’m feeling better. I took some advice from a friend and wrote a bunch of my stuff down thats giving me crap and figured out some sort of battle plan for each of the things within my control and found ways to face and cope with those things that are not. We’ll see how long this new found hope lasts but overall I realize that despite the fact I’ve had a really bad week, everythings not that bad. Just all the frustration and bewilderment over that screwey thing I call my life just seemed to crush me for a couple of days.

For those of you that took this ride with me this week, haha thanks for being there for me – I hope to return the favor as efficiently as you guys have.

Other things on my mind… I hope Arwen gets past the list at this school. I really want her to start there in August. It’s a little bit of a load on my budget, but it will be a great thing for her. Its great to play, but she needs to have some kind of structured learning going on for her. Thanks for getting me pointed in that direction Sammie. You got me off my ass to get her pottie trained and crazy about books and all ya had to do was tell me twice… not bad for a guy huh? ROFL. I tell ya this parenting thing is like teaching a caveman to build a car…  might eventually get it right but oh man is it going to be a mess in the mean time. (no i’m not calling my kid a caveman, although she grunts like one sometimes at me, lol)

I appreciate everything all my friends have done to help me along the way and continue to do today, again I owe you guys everything.

Anyway, its almost midnight and I need to finish something else up… I need to get to bed.

SO here I am sitting at work and I’ve got a moment to think, process and otherwise slack off… everyone’s at lunch, I’m skipping it – not really hungry today, still a bit too much on my mind.

Last night was good – Ryan, Naomi, Andy, Mark and Mike came over and I cooked up a big dinner – everyone’s favorite in the group it seems – Grilled Chicken Alfredo. It’s almost comic to watch those guys drool when we’re deciding on dinner and I go ‘ you guys want the chicken alfredo this week? ‘ haha — Mike especially. We hung out while I was busy getting some housework done then we ended up sitting downstairs listening to music/playing music/singing to music which was good. It was just good to relax a little after the stresses of these last couple of weeks. It made for a good sleep after I crashed out last night, lol.

Thanks again to Mike, Andy & Mark for hanging out longer and talking with me. So much crap on my mind lately that has just mounted over time and it’s good to have friends that you can talk to and seek advice from. You guys are the best. The conversation last night helped to get some stuff in order in my head so at least I was able to sleep. I think I’ll try to do my best to clear this stuff within the next couple of weeks so I no longer concern myself with it. Either way I just need to figure this stuff out and bring some sort of closure to it, which I now actually feel is possible. 😀

Today has been good so far, I’ve been busy. I got in this morning and started cleaning up the office. I had to get some of the boxes cleared out from the IT department and I made some really good progress. At least the office is starting to look like an office rather than a moving disaster now. MY office is actually relatively clean, just 3 more boxes to go through and figure out what to do with this filing cabinet I have in here. There’s really no room for it elsewhere in the office, maybe Don will let me buy it from the company – that would rock since I need a filing cabinet at home for all my crap I’ve got at home. I need to finish cleaning up my house today and I think I’m going to get all the rest of the yard work done as well. If I’m lucky I’ll get some time to work on my garden to, but I’m not pushing it… gotta squeeze in some time to play with my kiddo to.

Anyway, time to get back to work… this is getting kinda fun so perhaps I’ll start doing this one or two times a day when I’m bored. LOL

sorry had a beavis and butthead moment there…

well, here I am — joining the sheep of the technological world in creating a blog site. why am i doing this you may ask? funny story.

I got interested because my MySpace account seemed to have this little blog feature and after posting up a couple of times it dawned on me… my blogs were being stored on a public server — that runs… *gasp* WINDOWS! Ok, so thats not the total reason but its part of it. I just seem to have real issues with my personal stuff being out there on someone elses server and me having no control over it. So, seeing as how I have this lovely webserver just sitting out there, why not load my own blog software on there? 🙂

I’ll continue to update my MySpace stuff here and there, but I’m really thinking I’m going to take the bull by the horns and maintain my personal website from here on out… much more efficient that way. This is also much faster and much more reliable than MySpace so HAH!

Anyway, this being the first post I’ll close here. I might actually update this thing more often if I can just get into the habit. I mean it is a good idea to keep a journal yeah? lol
