snow in the mountains…

by on May.22, 2007, under General

ahhh – ya gotta love it when you’re sitting down here in 60-70 degree weather and up in the mountains it’s 27 and snowing. LOL It’s a shame snowboarding season is over, I’d so be there today.

Today I seem to just be plowing through my workload. I’m trying to get everything cleared up so I can clean my desk off. It’s a mess, lol.

Hanging out with Dave Lowery last night was awesome. I haven’t seen him in almost a year and a half and having the ability to catch up and get all nostalgic about the past with him was a lot of fun. We got to look in on quite a few of our friends from highschool via the internet and recall some rather interesting stories. It’s funny how we both look back and realize that all those choices we made that seemed like screwed up or wrong ones at the time have all led us here to the present where we wouldn’t trade anything we’ve got now to have changed even one thing in the past. Gotta love it. I’m really glad we’ve been keeping contact more regularly lately and I can’t wait to head out to Hawaii sometime in the near future to see him and his family again. It will probably have to be in the beginning of 2008 though since I’m planning on going to Mexico again in August. 🙂

Wow, that was on heck of a thunder pop, lol. We’ve got one of those nice Colorado T-Storms movin through right now. In and out. These things rock.

This weekend is creeping up pretty fast. I’ve got to pull some double duty today to catch up on my task list since I slacked pretty darn good last night. It was worth it though. 🙂 Got to see Dave and even had the chance to swing by and see Andy since I was out there last night. So, planning for Arwen’s party is pretty much done. Just some minor things to finish up and I’m sure I’ll get corrected on how things will work and some things will change. I mean, afterall I’m a guy. It’s in the rule-book. I can’t plan a birthday party, especially for a little girl. LOL

moving along …

by on May.21, 2007, under General

Well, it’s another Monday and here I am. This weekend almost passed with a flash I was so busy. Both good and bad I guess. Personal deadlines are like a freight-train barreling towards my car and I’m stuck on the tracks… But I’m slowly getting out of the way, lol.

I was able to get the downstairs walls primed this weekend. They still need a little work, but overall they’re looking pretty good. It’s nice to have them all one color now, lol.  I think the worst part was the cleanup afterwards. Wow… Talk about a pain. I honestly think I’ll still be finding sheetrock dust for months to come, but everything is pretty clean.  It also gave me a chance to clean out all my computer equipment as well so that made me happy.

I also installed new outlets the downstairs and upstairs, so no more fighting with the outlets to hold onto a plug. Everything seems like it’s moving along, however slowly. I just feel like it’s never going to end. Oh the joys of remodeling. I think my next project will be an easy one… changing out the doors in the house, lol. I’ve got a few more things I have to get completed downstairs, but then I’m taking a break for a few months. Money and time. I do need to change out two more windows at least before winter however, so I think those will take priority. I’d like to knock out three if possible, leaving only the small kitchen window and the bathroom windows to change out. I’m just glad I got Arwen’s and the guest room done last year, you could definitely feel the difference with just those two alone. I do need to revisit the bottom of the french doors in the kitchen though, oddly I had some cold air somehow getting in along the bottom and it was turning the kitchen floor around it a little cold.

In addition to getting remodel related stuff done, I was able to completely clean the family room and the living room, right down to steam cleaning the carpets. Oh they look so nice now. Just now keeping them that way will be the challenge. lol I think during Arwen’s birthday party I’ll setup the baby gate again, lol keep people out of the rest of the house and confined to the kitchen and backyard.

At least all that’s left for this week is cleaning and laundry. Oh yeah, and mowing the yard. *whew* By Friday night I’m going to be beat. But hey, I’ll feel pretty darn good about getting all this stuff cleaned up and I can go into the weekend relaxed. 🙂

In other news, much to my surprise, a friend of mine from highschool will be in town today. It will be good to see him again as it’s been about a year and a half since I saw him last. He’s in town for a few days doing something for the Airforce so we’re going to go do something and catch up today. I can’t wait. It’s been six years since he’s been here and even then it was a brief trip for us while Randy was graduating from the AFA down in the springs. Wow, I can’t believe I’ve been here over six years. It still sounds so weird to think I’ve settled down. LOL

Well, back to work. 🙂

so glad it’s friday …

by on May.18, 2007, under General

I’ve just gotta make it through today and then I’ve got the weekend. Not that the weekend offers much rest for me, but I can at least sleep in. 🙂 I dunno what I had get into my system but I have felt like crap since about 5pm Wednesday, yesterday being the worst of it. My stomach wanted to just beat the heck out of me Wednesday night and then it seemed like all was well by later that night. Yesterday I came into work and had a slight headache, my legs hurt and I felt kinda tired. By yesterday afternoon around 2, I wanted to just roll over and die. Headache, stomach ache, achey all over, tired, etc.. etc.. I pushed through work as much as possible then made it home and just collapsed into my own little bubble of ‘ leave me alone ‘ — I wish I could have gotten some sleep, but that’s kinda difficult with a 4 yr old running around. I went through waves of feeling better and feeling worse so I just pretty much avoided the phone, the computer and whatever else and layed on the couch and watched tv. I did however feel better later on and did get a couple things finished up for a mission on FFXI that Andy and I have to do this weekend, so that’s good.

Today, eh… I’m pretty much just tired. I definitely feel better overall than I did yesterday but I wouldn’t mind sleeping for about another 12 hours, lol. I’ll just make sure I don’t stay up too too late tonight and sleep in tomorrow and I should be good. Again, I’m so glad it’s Friday.

My goal for the weekend… finish that freakin room. That way I can focus on some stuff in the guest room next week as well as cleaning, lawn mowing, etc… etc… lol so many things to do, so little time. Almost lunchtime here, so I need to get some things finished up before the rest of the day get’s flushed. haha

knockin em off one by one…

by on May.17, 2007, under General, Personal

Wow, the days this week are just dropping one by one. With that, it’s seriously closing in on my deadline of May 25th to finish some of my projects at home and work. Luckily the work projects are almost complete. Some things have shifted which has made my life easier with those, but the ones at home… well yeah.

I skipped working on the room last night seeing as how I was so busy with the car. Hooking up those water lines to the turbo took a little longer than anticipated due to some spacing issues. I had to pick up a new fitting this morning to switch the rear waterline from a 45 degree angle exit from the turbo to a 90. Stupid thing was hitting the firewall and making a little racket this morning. Now I just have to get the 45 out – which is going to be a pain. I may just cut it out to save myself the hassle of pulling the turbo off again.  *shrug* it was only $13 – worth the waste to save an hour if you ask me. All in all though the car seems to run a bit better with the cooling addition so hey, bonus. I think I’m going to need to take the car out and retune it though, lol. This turbo is a little different than my other one, however it’s not a huge difference so it shouldn’t be too hard.

My goal for tonight… prime the walls in that room before getting on FFXI and getting Rank 5. Andy will shoot me if I miss tonight so I better get on it as soon as I get home. Him and Ashleigh are coming up tomorrow for SG Friday and FFXI so he will have an opportunity to smack me if I don’t do this, lol. Have you ever seen Andy mad? Pray you don’t. LOL

Just over a week until Arwen’s birthday. I’ve got to get on the ball with some of that stuff too. Need to figure out the food and stuff for next week. Amanda is going to help out with some of that stuff, so I’m not too worried. She’ll be up Friday and volunteered to help out with Arwen’s cake and some other things, so I’m not actually that worried about it – it’s not all that bad. I just need to do some shopping for some stuff for Arwen. As long as I get this stuff I have to finish cleared out and don’t procrastinate it to the point it doesn’t get done, I will be quite happy. Gotta stop pushing stuff out, it’s such a bad habit. 🙁

Well, I’ve got some things I need to get finished up before I head out on some site visits this afternoon.
