results of a respiratory knockdown-dragout…
by Travis on Feb.03, 2008, under General, Personal
round one and two definitely went to the respiratory system… I got owned. Anyone who came in contact with me Monday-Tuesday of last week… I apologize for more than likely passing this thing onto you. The way we’ve figured out the math on this thing, you don’t even know you’ve got it when you’re spreading it… nice huh? It’s a sneaky one for sure. From what we can gather is… you pick it up. It sits for 2-3 days and starts it’s going public with itself. At about day 4 or 5 you start off with a little cough then within 12 hours it drops on you like a ton of bricks… fever, aches, headache, cough that makes you feel like a lung is coming up… what a fun time, let me tell ya. Reminds you of something out of one of those Stephen King novels except thankfully this one doesn’t lead to Mother Abigail or Randall Flagg showing up in your dreams. (reference: The Stand if you’re lost) LOL
So far Amanda is the only one who has been *knocks-on-wood* spared… Andy and Arwen got theirs Friday night. 🙁
This thing packed a punch let me tell ya. After my blog post on Thursday is when it all went downhill. By 2:30pm I could feel the fever ramping up and I ached, all over. I bailed out of work and by the time I made it home I could barely stand. I literally came right in and went to bed. I woke up around 6 when Andy got here and decided I’d hang out with the family downstairs for a little while. I literally turned into a veggie on the couch… I just laid there until around 10 and went back to bed. I pretty much slept on and off until I got up to go to the doctor around 11:30 Friday.
Dragging myself to the doctor’s office was probably one of the most painful experiences of my life… At least I found out it wasn’t the flu… Highest reading on the thermometer was recorded at this point… 103.1 I got some drugs to make me feel comfortable and went home… I continued to sleep. Around 5:30 I forced myself upstairs (I had quarantined myself to the guest room downstairs, lol) and tried to watch some TV… 7pm and my fever finally began to break… I’ve sweat less doing an intense workout. If I wasn’t on the road to dehydration before, I was now.
Saturday and today I’ve been steady improving although I’m still a little washed out today and it looks like Arwen is at least coming to the end of her fever phase so she should start feeling better shortly too. I should be good to go by tomorrow though which is a good thing. Way to waste a weekend! Especially one with absolutely perfect temperatures and tons of new snow in the mountains… (i’m quite upset) I definitely wouldn’t wish this one on anyone… it was a rough one for sure.
Well, onto more relaxation/recovery… we got Amanda’s RDM up to lvl 11 last night so we’re going to duo today and see if we can’t go for completion of her subjob quest by the end of the day. 🙂 The good thing with the duo will be I’ll get to level my NIN today too. 🙂 Where are ya Mike? She’s catchin up to you bad bro!
full force colds suck….

I should have known it was coming yesterday… I woke up feeling like I didn’t get any sleep and when I had my morning orange juice it burned… I ignored it…
Last night I had a little cough, but nothing could prepare me for this morning… I woke up feeling like I actually got sleep but still felt like a truck hit me. Sitting here at my desk I feel like I could just pass out… I ache all over and the coughing is one of those nice deep chest “i’m going to stay with you for a while” coughs…
I guess snowboarding is out this weekend… 🙁
On the upside, Andy will be pleased… that means we’ll be leveling Amanda’s character and I’ll be in the game more… sick = game time for me. LOL
Hmm… I need to call some folks… haven’t heard from a couple of them lately… I don’t like it when friends disappear and don’t check in. If you’re reading this and you know who you all are, you’re getting text messages and phone calls!
I’m going to close my door and hide now. Yes, that sounds like a wondeful plan. If only I really could.
guess who decided to drop into my moghouse?

Yep, look who decided to drop into the game…

It’s Amanda! 🙂
So after a long discussion about how the game worked with Andy and I, Amanda caved and wanted to create a character. I guess that’s what I get for over justifying why I play the game huh, lol. 🙂
She did pretty good actually… I expected the learning curve to take a couple days but Andy is a great teacher and she’s well on her way to leveling like a pro.
Another convert I guess. *shrug* It’s not without it’s perks though, my moghouse isn’t quite as empty any longer. 😉

Anyway… it’s late and time for bed.
balance is wonderful…

There has to be something said for finally finding some scheduling balance… after 4 out of 6 business days being 12+ (a couple 15+) hour days I was beginning to wonder if there was going to be any light at the end of the tunnel. 🙂 Apparently things look to be calming down this week and I’m looking forward to another 4 day week for sure. Hopefully I can get a chance to go up boarding this next Friday if all works out. Hopefully the weather will be as good as it was this past weekend… It has been phenomenal out here. I’m hoping here as it starts to warm up to finally get Arwen up there and trying the snow out. I got Amanda up there, now it’s up to the little one to join us and we can start making a family trip out of it to go up. ^^
Things *I think* are getting back to normal around the house… This past month has been really busy with all the traveling and family in town and such but I’ll say it’s quite honestly odd to have so much quite around the house now. The trip with my parents went really well and I’m definitely glad that my Dad got a chance to go up a couple times and hit the slopes with me. Hopefully the next time we can shoot for three or four. With the calm-down I’ve also had some time to get on and play some FFXI again with Andy and Mike. More so Andy since Mike has been slackin lately… c`mon man, that’s my job. 🙂 I know Andy has enjoyed the company in the game again and it’s good to have some type of virtual distraction from the day to day things in life. But with that it’s also good to have time to balance that in with the time spent with my family and friends.
All in all things are going pretty good though. The new job is working out great and the family is doing well. Now if we can just finish getting everything squared away to begin moving forward on some more projects around the house we’ll be set. lol Funny how when you finally hit a spot of normal life you want to jumble it all up with more remodel work. yeesh… I’m just asking for it aren’t I? We’ve got some pretty nice things planned out and hopefully we’ll have the ability to implement most of them before this time next year. *knock on wood*
Ok, well nothing else too exciting to report… just felt like giving a shout out to let the world know I’m still breathin. 🙂
