catching up …
by Travis on Dec.14, 2008, under General, Personal
Finally… Winter is finally settling in and I can’t wait to get some more board time up in the hills. Goaling for twice this week and four times at least after Christmas hopefully.
So this weekend was pretty productive and we were just under the wire with getting the Christmas lights up in time before a snow storm. Sitting here now with -4 and watching it drop. I freakin love Colorado. 🙂 Here’s the work so far.
I feel like I’m actually getting caught up. Just in time for some much needed time off work! So in catching up, I finally delivered on some more pics. You can find them in the gallery. A new section on my son and more additions to the misc category. Just a few but it’s additions none the less. Now I don’t feel like such a slacker. LOL
Anyway… workouts come early so this is a short post. 🙂
they drop like flies …

And when I say “they” I mean days. Here it is… December 11th, almost 12th and I still haven’t gotten pictures up. LOL I would say I’m slacking but it’s quite the opposite. I think it all started Sunday night.
I went under the house to get the box with all the Christmas lights, decorations and such out and while I was under there I discovered a leak in my main water pipe coming into the house. Apparently it hadn’t been doing it long as there wasn’t much water down there but all the same it was steadily getting worse. Luckily I’ve got a friend who is a darn good plumber and he was able to come over and fix it that night for about a fifth of the cost of what it would have run me had I just called a company to come over. Very thankful for that. Cleaning up from that and taking out my anger in a slaughter session in Assassins Creed pretty much wasted Sunday for me. I think I personally killed every opposing force in all of Acre that night. LOL
Monday morning wasn’t much better… First thing out of the gate we were knee deep in trying to stop the spread of an email worm/virus that was quickly taking hold across our network. I do have to pat our team on the back for keeping containment under 5% of the domain. For more information on some of the ordeal and what was going on, check out the post over on techtalk.homerun-networks.com:

Tuesday was a pain in the rear end. Playing catch-up from not only being in Pinedale last week but losing Monday as well to the email worm was a pain. On top of that, missed working out Tuesday morning so I had to do it in the evening leaving the computer as the last thing I wanted to touch that night.
That leaves us left over with Wednesday and Thursday. Company Christmas lunch. The food choice gets a failing grade. I was in pain by the end of the day which was no fun. I came home with a headache and a stomach ache so I wasted a couple hours of my evening just laying in bed. Maybe today I can get those pics up…
Speaking of things to do today… I need to get those updates rolled out for the blog software too… It never ends. *shrug*
At least today has been pretty normal. Couple of meetings. Trip to the Denver Christkindl Market for some German and Austrian goodness and now I can see the day coming to a close. *happy sigh*
Ok, well things to do before I can head out.
the never ending cycle…

Constants in the Universe:
Babies will cry, bills will never stop coming, upgrades to blog software will never take more than a week long break, end users will always continue to amaze you with acts of complete stupidity, politicians will always be crooked, the stock market will always be a joke, 430 am workouts will never feel right, Travis will continue the epic failure in blogging regularly and updating photos to his gallery.
Yep, that’s to name a few but it seems about right.
I am going to update photos tonight too… I mean, after all, my kiddo is almost 6 weeks old so I better get on the ball right? *sigh* Speaking of him, I can never get enough of that wonderous “blank stare” when babies look at you. You can’t help but laugh hysterically when they stare through you and look at you with this wow’d “whoa” face. You always seem to check behind you to see if someone is there making faces at your kid until you realize, babies see right through you and you’re over complicating the most basic of things in life, total amazement at something you take for granted every day. Life.
All in all it’s been a good few weeks. They’ve been amazingly busy, but when you boil down to it, it’s been pretty dang good. Travis is growing in leaps and bounds. We’ve gotten our first good snow of the season. I got to go up boarding Thanksgiving weekend. I’ve seen the inside of my office for about three hours this last week. Granted in order to accomplish that I had to take off to Wyoming to work in Pinedale then catch something via food or proximity to someone sick and end up sick a day or two but hey… Overall I can’t complain. *shrug*
Yesterday I ate a 1 lbs burger. Fuddruckers is the destroyer of worlds and my loose diet plan but what do I really care? It’s not really like it hurt things in the big picture. I think it’s okay to cheat on diets when you have the will power to continue to stick with it otherwise. You’ve got to spoil yourself sometimes or you tend to just frustrate yourself with deprivation.
Well, I’ve got a busy day ahead. I will end here and try to commit to writing more often. *rolls eyes* riiiight.
the ultimate time warp …

Having a baby. Dead serious. If you ever need time to fly by and lose track of the days that have past, having a newborn in the house will do it. I seriously can’t believe my son will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. It feels like yesterday. It’s probably due to the lack of good sleep and the holes in the memory that causes but wow.
I’m starting to have flashbacks of when my daughter was first born. I can honestly say I can’t account for the first 6 months of her life. I remember next to nothing about anything from that period of time. Pretty scary.
Anyway, having the new kiddo around is kinda fun. I feel sorry for poor Amanda though who has the worst sleeping schedule out of all of us. She’s been doing really good with though, I’m really impressed.
On another note. Started the second round of P90X this morning. This should be interesting since I’m switching up the workout times to early morning instead of after work. It’s just easier on my schedule and my body. When I get home in the evening, the last thing I want to do is work out after a day of dealing with my usual day of tasks and being gone from home for almost 12 hours. Early morning though seems to be the trick. I’ve got a friend of mine, Adam, who is joining in. I think he was successfully destroyed this morning, lol. Still, 4:30 am wakeups… *shudder*.
We’ll see how this goes.
Well that’s it in a nutshell. 🙂
