So walking in this morning from the bus station to my office, I see a couple workers on the 16th St mall area standing by a running truck, one on the phone, one smoking a cigarette… both keep looking under the truck and discussing. I walk by and glance over to see what they’re looking at and notice what appears to be gas dripping from the tank under the rear of the vehicle. Again, I notice one of them is smoking… I hurried myself along.

If you have an aversion to colorful language, you may want to skip this one… however, this guy hits the nail on the head.

(CNN) — A hacker has obtained the personal information of PlayStation Network account holders and subscribers of the Qriocity streaming service, Sony said in a message to customers Tuesday.

Sony’s investigations over the past week determined that an “unauthorized person” had obtained users’ names, home addresses, e-mail addresses, birth dates and passwords, according to a statement being sent to all account holders.

The attack also has crippled Sony’s PlayStation Network, which has some 70 million subscribers and has been down since April 20. The network lets customers download video games from the Web and play against each other online.

“While there is no evidence at this time that credit card data was taken, we cannot rule out the possibility,” said Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment, which manage the two services, in a joint statement.

The hacker could have taken credit card numbers, card expiration dates, billing addresses, answers to security questions and purchase history, but not credit-card security codes, they said.

Sony is encouraging customers “to protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss” by reviewing credit-card statements. The company also suggested that some customers may want to place a “fraud alert” with credit bureaus.

Sony did not say how many accounts had been compromised. A spokeswoman declined to comment Tuesday.

Some subscribers reacted angrily to the news.

“You waited a WEEK to tell us our (personal) information was compromised?” one PlayStation user wrote on a Sony blog. “That should have been said last Thursday” — the day when Sony first acknowledged the issue.

The intrusions occurred between April 17 and 19, according to the statement. On April 20, Sony switched off the PlayStation and Qriocity online services, which have remained in the dark.

Users and paid subscribers were also mostly in the dark until Tuesday about the reason for the lengthy outage or about when services would be reinstated.

Sony initially said its PS network would be be back online within one to two days.

On Tuesday, PlayStation spokesman Patrick Seybold wrote in a statement that it could take another week before they “expect to restore some services.”

I couldn’t help but laugh. I love it it when Andy calls me with these random happenings he sees while out and about. He always finds the funny ones. The sad thing is, this guy’s sign kinda makes sense if you let you geek show a little and think about the implications of what he says. Great stuff Andy… keep it comin!

Anyone who knows me, knows I can’t stand Ke$ha’s music (particularly the song he’s making fun of) because it’s completely stupid. This post just made my morning…

You ever have one of those moments when you just have to giggle to yourself over something kinda funny?  You know, like one of those moments when you’re looking over communications logs on your servers and notice someone from dhs.gov has become a regular visitor to your blog? LOL (dhs.gov is department of homeland security for those that don’t quite understand… if you need further details, feel free to visit their site)

Seriously… it’s one of those things that just makes your raise your eyebrow and think to yourself  ‘does someone think I’m a threat or are they just some individual who finds my technical posts helpful or my rants entertaining?’ With the regular visits monthly why don’t they just sign up and get subscribed to my posts so they can get full copies when I post up?

It certainly wouldn’t offend nor scare me to have a dhs member as a subscriber. lol

The first visit was on May 5th, then a month later almost to the day a visit with more content viewed. I must be getting more interesting or something.

Shortly before we left for GA there was a mouse we had busted digging into some things in the garage. This little isolated incident turned into a huge mess in our absence adding to the phrase “while the cat’s away, the mice will play”. Seriously, it was like an army had moved into our garage while our house sat quiet for that week and a half.

My solution?

… the most painful looking, horrific feeling device I could find for a mouse trap. It’s got teeth and all. PETA eat your f`n heart out!! So, I’m not completely without a heart though… I did buy one of those ultrasonic devices to ward off the little buggers. But in the mean time it’s open season on those rodents! So far the score is 1-9. Only one trap has been robbed of the bait but I do believe that crafty mouse bit the big one when he hit the next trap for some more peanut butter. We even got a two for one special with one…

So until they stop coming in, I’ll get excited every time I hear a “snap” or walk out to find another one bit the dust. >=D
