my thoughts on illegal immigration…

by on May.18, 2010, under Politics, Rants

What part of the word illegal does no one seem to get?

il·le·gal – [ih-lee-guhl]

–adjective
1.
forbidden by law or statute.

First and foremost, do I believe people have certain rights as human beings? Yes. No one should try to take away someones personal freedoms and abilities. Go where you want, be who you want to be, but…

Do people have the right to freeload and complain about how things aren’t the way they would like them to be when they are not even a citizen of a country and don’t think the laws of the land they are living in apply to them? NO

I’m not saying all illegal immigrants are complete freeloaders or disrespect of all laws with no regard for consequence, let me stop you right there. What I’m saying is certain aspects of the things a lot of illegal immigrants are expecting of the US are indicative of the behaviors of a freeloader and someone who has no regard for the law.

Example: I’ve seen recent news articles about illegal immigrants fighting deportation or other consequences of their being here illegally in court or protesting laws that could get them kicked out. Excuse me? Since when do non-citizens get citizen’s rights? Seriously? I mean if I go rob a bank, I go to court and if the proof points to the fact I did in fact rob said bank, the law states I have xxx options for a sentence based on parameters of the crime and more than likely I go to jail. That’s the law, I broke it, hence ‘ILLEGAL’. So why are ILLEGAL immigrants who are here… ILLEGALLY getting any kind of say in how our laws should be interpreted or how they should be applied to them? You have government officials, celebrities, citizens, etc all banding together to give these people “a voice”… SERIOUSLY!?

This country seriously has its priorities out of order.

Now don’t get me wrong here. I believe wholeheartedly that people should have the chance and be able to immigrate here from another country LEGALLY! If you want to move here, go through the process, become documented it’s that simple. Whether you’re here on borrowed time or are immigrating here permanently, do so through the proper channels. PERIOD. If you’re here legally, you’re taxed on your income, you are protected by our laws, etc… etc… You’re subject to the same rules as I am with conditions based on your status that you legally filed for.

If you don’t like the process, then maybe you shouldn’t be here. I’m so sick of people who aren’t even citizens of this country depleting the economy and morale of this nation with their presence. We have enough people who can’t take care of themselves and enough criminals that are already citizens of this country that we have to support and adding more and more every day doesn’t help the situation any.

Get documented or GET OUT. Stop whining about your human rights being violated and adhere to the law of the land you’re trying to move into. If I have to live by them, so do you!

Ugh…

And for you people who think you have an opinion contrary, you are more than welcome to find a country that supports your ideals and go there. Just make sure you do it legally. :)

Exchange 2007 Mailbox Move Failure (Error: 1056749254)

by on May.11, 2010, under Tech Stuff

So, I spent quite a bit of time digging around on the internet and came up with no solution to this issue. So I’m posting the solution to this one. I ran across this one while moving a mailbox from one site to another physically across a WAN. Moving mailboxes on the server from one datastore to the other worked just fine, however every time I ran a mailbox move from one location to another, it bombed out with the following error:

[5/10/2010 6:57:36 PM] [0] [ERROR] Error was found for Test User (test.user@testdomain.com) because: Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. Unable to unlock mailbox with error:
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000, error code: -1056749254
[5/10/2010 6:57:36 PM] [0] [06876] The operation has finished.

One might immediate think there is an issue with permissions since this was a common item found when doing a search on this particular error and showed up most often when doing a migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. In this particular instance, it is due to a problem with a WAN accelerator.

The best way to confirm this is to complete a dump on the interface on the source and target exchange servers when conducting the move. If the WAN accelerator is interfering it may manifest itself by showing a packet on source side that differs from the expected packet on the target side.

In this case, it was a transparency mode configured on a RiverBed device.

Hopefully this post will help someone keep from smashing their head into a keyboard for a couple of days since they can’t find the answer and point them in the right direction. :)

0.0.0.0 nic gateway, server 2008

by on May.11, 2010, under Tech Stuff

Figured this oddity was worth posting.

I was loading up a server today and for some reason, despite setting the nic with static ip, gw and dns information I couldn’t hit outside ip addresses.

When I submitted an “ipconfig /all” I noticed my gw in the config but also noticed 0.0.0.0 listed with and above it. Wtf?

Anyway, reboot didn’t fix it, resubmission of configuration didn’t fix it, but the following did.

1) Open up ‘cmd.exe’ in administrator mode.
2) Type ‘route delete 0.0.0.0′
3) Resubmit your ip settings putting the correct default gateway in.

Should be fine now. (Even after reboot) =)

Not sure what the deal was, but at least its a simple fix for a stupid issue.

i am a professional blog slacker … :)

by on May.02, 2010, under Fitness, General, Personal

That’s me. I am the professional blog slacker. :)

Well, to be honest I think I have a decent excuse or ten… It’s been pretty hectic. I think where I last posted was a good sign things were ramping up to drive me completely nuts. To be honest, I don’t recall everything that has occurred over the last couple months but it’s been somewhere in the lines of tons of career work and lots of home related work (remodel, kiddos, car stuff, workout, etc) so needless to say blogging has been the last thing on my list.

So to bring my little online community up to speed for things they may or may not already know. I successfully made it into the 220′s (albeit high 220′s) on the weight loss and I’m hovering around 19% on the body fat count. I can’t complain really, that’s pretty good considering I was out around 270 when I started this whole thing two years ago. So, almost 42 lbs down and more than 6″ off my waist is nothing to be disappointed over. We’ll see how this next round goes. I’m doing quite a bit more cardio as Amanda and I are training up to run the Bolder Boulder at the end of this month. Projections say I should see around 215 again. That would be nice… lol

In other news, we finished cleaning up the three bedrooms and the hallway to the upstairs in the house with a little remodel. Nothing like pulling out all the insulation in the exterior walls and replacing it with 2 levels higher of an R factor to make things a little cooler/warmer in the bedrooms. :) It pretty much wraps up most of the work in the house in the odd areas. All that’s left is the kitchen/livingroom combo remodel and the two bathrooms and this house is done. I kinda wonder what we’ll do after that… Hopefully start building the house in the mountains if all goes well. Some pictures will be posted up shortly if they’re not already there when this is read.

I also passed another birthday… 31, wooo… I dunno. I remember thinking as a kid that I would be lucky to see 21 and here I am with 10 more years on top of that, two kids, a wife, a career, debt and everything else that goes in between. Wow.

Tons of stuff in between but hey, I’m still alive and all is well so that’s pretty much where we’re at. Hopefully I can get at least one or two posts a month as things go forward eh? *rolls eyes* riiiight.
